Want to experience real European racing? Then take to the streets of Westport on July 19th at 8 pm to experience a criterium or crit, which is a bike race held on a short course (usually less than 1 km) on closed-off city/town center streets.
The route of this high speed race will start outside Carraig Donn on Bridge street in the right-hand lane, going up and turning right on to Shop street staying in the right hand lane. Turning right again on to James Street, remaining in the right hand lane. Continue to the bottom of James street, taking the first right, before the bridge, turning on to the North Mall, staying the right hand lane, turning right back on to Bridge street for another loop.
There will be two crit races held youth and senior.
The race is open to U12, U14 and U16 riders.
- U12: 5 min + 3 laps
- U14: 8 min + 3 laps
- U16: 10 min + 3 laps
Youth crit registration is from 7.00-7.30 pm at Westport Leisure Park, James Street.
Youth crit race briefing is at 7.30 pm at Westport Leisure Park, James Street.
Race start time: 8.00 pm sharp
Race start location: Outside Carraig Donn on Bridge Street.
- A+, A1, A2, A3 and A4 race which will consist of 45 minutes of racing plus 3 laps.
- A4 prime is at 4 min
- A3 prime is at 10 min
- A2 prime is at 15 min
Senior crit registration is from 7.00-7.45 pm at Westport Leisure Park, James Street.
Senior crit race briefing is at 7.45 pm at Westport Leisure Park, James Street.
The crit circuit will be opened for practice from 8.45 pm.

Race start location: outside Carraig Donn on Bridge Street.
- You must stay in the right hand lane of the route.
- If you are lapped, you are out of the race.
- Showers will be provided after in Westport Leisure Park, James Street.
- Photo finish in operation.
- Closed roads will be in operation.
